Kelly is a second year undergraduate student majoring in Chemical Engineering, with an intended minor in Energy Studies. Previously, she has conducted biofuel synthesis research and interned at a plastic-to-fuel startup, before interning at Acciona Energy for innovation market research. Kelly is interested in renewables grid integration and sustainable energy technology.
Monica Harnoto - Managing Director
Monica is a 2020 MIT Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) Candidate pursuing an MBA and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Prior to MIT, Monica worked at Bloom Energy starting as a Recruiting Sourcer and growing into a Senior Program Management Specialist on their product management team. While there, she was a lead for the Bloom Energy Women’s Initiative and a volunteer for Sustainable Silicon Valley’s Energy team. In addition to her role as Co-Managing Director of MIT Energy Night, Monica also serves as a Co-Managing Director for the Clean Energy Prize and Vice President for MIT’s Sloan Energy Club. Monica holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley.
Rukmini Sarkar - Content Director
Rukmini is a second year MBA student at MIT Sloan who is passionate about renewable energy and sustainability. She is pursuing the Sustainability Certificate as part of her MBA degree. At MIT, she ran the 2019 Clean Energy Prize and is involved with the Sloan Energy Club. During the summer, she interned at NextEra Energy on the Corporate Development team. Prior to Sloan, she worked for five years in management consulting at the Boston Consulting Group in the Middle East and in the Energy, Chemicals, & Utilities practice at Strategy& in the U.S. During her time in consulting, she has completed 20+ projects, of which 15 were in the energy & utilities sectors and include mergers & acquisitions, growth strategy, cost optimization, and operating model transformation. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ana Fiallo - Content Director
Ana is a sophomore at MIT, majoring in Urban Science and Planning with Computer Science, and minoring in Energy Studies. Ana first became interested in energy during the aftermath of Hurricane María in 2017, when her island home of Puerto Rico faced months without electricity. Since then, she has been involved in different MIT energy initiatives, including the 2018 Undergraduate Energy Career Fair and MITEI’s Solar Spring Break. Ana also has experience working at a small renewable energy monitoring company in Belgium, implementing a blockchain reward system for their clients’ solar energy generation. Her interests lie within smart grid integration, blockchain in the energy sector, distributed energy systems, and renewable energy efficiency.
Haruna Fujita - Operations Director
Haruna Fujita is a 2021 MBA candidate at MIT Sloan. Prior to MIT, she worked as an economic and energy consultant in the US and Australia with The Brattle Group, and also served as Brattle’s inaugural sustainability coordinator. Haruna is interested in energy efficiency, data-driven energy solutions, and sustainable supply chain management. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University.
Yen-Ting Wang - Operations Director
Yen-Ting is a 3rd year PhD students in department of Chemical Engineering. She does research in energy related area especially in kinetic modeling for heavy oil systems. She has organized Reaction Mechanism Generator (which is developed by Green group in MIT/West group in Northeastern University) workshop in 2019.
Bhav Jain - Marketing Director
Bhav is a first year undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Computation and Cognition. He is interested in the affordability of novel renewable energy methods and the incorporation of smart grid technologies in the developing world.
